Other than the CAPTCHA system being a pain because ofhow often it turns up, it seems to be enitrly visual which makes it very hard for visually impaired of blind users (who may be using a screen reader to use Twine) to access the site.  Please give some consideration to fairer access for disabled users.

The CAPTCHA used by this Q&A site is Google's reCAPTCHA v2 (a.k.a. No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA), which according to the Simply Accessible article The accessibility of Google’s No CAPTCHA is actually not bad accessibility-wise.  Perhaps your particular setup is making your experience poorer than it should be.

Beyond that.  As far as I've seen, reCAPTCHA only appears when you register for an account.  Are you saying that you're seeing it elsewhere?

Until I verified my email address it was turning up on every posting page (asking or answering a question).

So until you had completed the registration process--which includes verifying your e-mail address--righto then.
